“Images at the Crossroads” Fresco at Civic Center

704-878-3493, 300 South Center Street, Statesville. Adorning a specially created wall in the Statesville Civic Center, the 21 feet tall, 19 feet wide fresco was crafted by world-renowned artist Ben Long, a native of Statesville.

Hiddenite Gem Mines

I-40, Exit 148 (Hwy 90 West), Hiddenite, NC. Named for the gem found only in this area, this quaint township features Hiddenite Gems/Emerald Hollow (828-632-3394) where the largest emerald in North America weighing 1,686.3 karats was found. The Hiddenite Center/Historic Lucas Mansion (828-632-6966) is a three-story Victorian mansion housing various collections and art galleries as well as a toy and doll collection.

 

Fort Dobbs State Historic Site

Daveste’ Vineyards

Monday – 11:00 am to 6:00 pm – Thursday -11:00 am to 6:00 pm – Friday 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday – 10:00 am to 6:00 pm – Sunday 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Closed – Tuesday and Wednesday. Vineyard and winery tours are 2:30 pm or 4:30 pm during hours of operation. Iredell County’s first winery. The timber framed tasting room overlooks the vineyard and in addition to offering fine wine, features selected works of art by North Carolina artists. Live music is also available on weekends.
