- According the North Carolina Department of Commerce tourism is the second largest industry in North Carolina with a total of $15.4 billion in expenditures plus over $1.3 billion in state and local tax revenue.
- Tourism in Iredell County (which includes Statesville, NC) generated an economic impact of $172.69 million in 2006.
- More than 1730 jobs in Iredell County were directly attributable to travel and tourism
- Travel and tourism generated a $29.77 million payroll in Iredell County during 2006
- State and local tax revenues from travel to Iredell County amounted to $15.26 million. This represents a $89 tax saving to each county resident
