Dashana Hall Plantation 704-872-3608

The Darshana Hall Plantation is comprised of two houses, the first home was built in 1753, the second was built in 1818. Three families have been building on the plantation for over four centuries.  This is the largest plantation in the area and is a National Historic Register Property.  Tours can be arranged by reservation. www.darshanahallplantation.com

The Vineyard Estate, planted in 2005, grows Malbec, Merlot, Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and the lessor know Rkatsiteli and Chouchillon.  The Tasting room, which overlooks the vineyard, is a 1,500 square-foot rustic timber-frame style and is open to the public.  There is also an Art Gallery, that features works by North Carolina artists throughout the year. The Vineyard and Tasting room are located off of interstates I-40 and I-77 at 155 Lytton Farm Road, Troutman, NC 28166.  Hours of operation: Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.  You can visit them on the web at www.daveste.com.

Governor Zebulon Vance House and Museum  704-876-0376

Built approx. 1832-1860, this Greek Revival two-story frame house is one of the oldest structures in Statesville. In 1865 it served as headquarters for Governor Zebulon Vance during his exile from the state capitol during the last months of the Civil War. The house is now operated as a museum by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Situated in the Piedmont region of North Carolina near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Fort Dobbs State Historic Site provides a window into the tumultuous period of history known as the French and Indian War (1754-1763) or Seven Years War. As the only state historic site associated with the period, it represents North Carolina's link with a global war for empire that crossed five continents, lasted nearly a decade and sowed the seeds for independence.
