Fort Dobbs State Historic Site


438 Fort Dobbs Road, Statesville. 704-873-5882. Fort Dobbs State Historic Site provides a window into the tumultuous period of history known as the French and Indian War (1754-1763) or Seven Years War. Fort Dobbs is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fourth Creek Burying Ground

202 W. End Ave (Corner of N. Meeting Street and West End Avenue). Historic grave markers, circa: 1750s. Statesville’s only cemetery until the late 1880s. Bounded by a rock wall which contains on the NE corner one of the four original corner posts of the city! Cemetery contains graves of many Revolutionary War soldiers and many ornate and interesting markers.
